Position Summary:
The Orthotics and Prosthetics department provides services to pediatric and adult clients who require orthotic and prosthetic devices to improve their mobility function and independence. The Registered Prosthetic Technician plays a key hands-on role in the delivery of high-quality prosthetic care within the Orthotics and Prosthetics team at Holland Bloorview. Working closely with Prosthetists and members of the interdisciplinary care team the Prosthetic Technician is responsible for the technical fabrication modification support and maintenance of custom prosthetic devices for pediatric adolescent and adult clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate assemble modify align and repair custom prosthetic devices in accordance with clinical prescriptions design specifications and manufacturer guidelines
- Provide technical support during client fittings and follow-up appointments including adjustments troubleshooting and modifications to optimize fit comfort function cosmesis and safety
- Collaborate closely with Prosthetists and the interdisciplinary team to support client-centered goal-directed prosthetic care
- Determine utilize and order appropriate components materials and manufacturing processes
- Ensure all prosthetic devices meet departmental regulatory and safety standards including appropriate documentation and quality assurance processes
- Maintain operate and troubleshoot prosthetic fabrication equipment tools and materials to ensure safe and efficient workshop operations
- Contribute technical expertise to complex cases including pediatric congenital and medically complex client populations
- Support timely service delivery through effective workflow management task prioritization and coordination with clinical team members
- Participate in quality improvement activities and support the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment for staff clients and families
- Contribute to research activities within the Orthotics and Prosthetics department
- Participate in departmental initiatives related to service optimization equipment evaluation and adoption of new prosthetic technologies

Qualifications
- Registered Technician in Prosthetics RTP (c) in good standing with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (OPC)
- Demonstrated technical skills related to prosthetic device design fabrication modification and repair
- Understanding of and commitment to a client- and family-centred care service delivery model
- Ability to work effectively under pressure manage competing priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining high quality standards
- Working knowledge of current prosthetic advancements and emerging technologies
- Experience with digital design technologies and/or additive manufacturing
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary and diverse team
- Strong organizational interpersonal problem-solving and time-management skills
- Report writing basic computer skills
