Summary of Job Duties:

The Extra Help/Enterprise Systems Consultant position supports the migration of legacy Banner systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and the structured decommissioning of on-premise Banner environments.

This role is focused on project-based work and does not include ongoing operational database administration responsibilities. This position is time-limited and will conclude upon completion of OCI migration and legacy system stabilization. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Extensive experience administering Oracle databases including Banner ERP environments

  • Strong knowledge of database architecture performance tuning backup and recovery processes

  • Experience supporting database migrations

  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex legacy enterprise systems

  • Ability to document technical processes and support structured knowledge transfer

  • Experience in higher education environments required

An equivalent combination of experience and institutional knowledge will be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • 10 years of experience in database administration

  • Prior experience supporting Banner ERP systems

  • Experience with large-scale database migrations or system decommissioning efforts

Job Duties and Responsibilites:

  • Support the migration of Banner Oracle databases to OCI

  • Ensure stability and integrity of the legacy Banner database in a read-only state.

  • Perform database validation backup verification and recovery readiness checks

  • Monitor and tune database performance during and after migration

  • Identify and document system dependencies and integration points

  • Assist with decommissioning planning and execution for legacy systems

  • Provide knowledge transfer and technical documentation to internal IT staff
