Job Duties

This position is open to current DMV employees only. The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a Lead Tipper/Inserter Technician. The Inserter and Tipper Lead oversees the production and mailing operations within the DMV ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of customer-facing materials. Reporting directly to the Printing Services Manager this role involves managing Inserter and Tipper machines troubleshooting equipment issues maintaining compliance with DMV and postal standards and supervising staff to ensure seamless operations. The position requires technical expertise in production equipment strong organizational skills to manage schedules and prioritize tasks and collaboration with vendors to secure materials and resolve issues. By maintaining high-quality standards and efficient workflows this role directly supports the DMVs mission of providing reliable and timely services to the public.

Minimum Qualifications

Comprehensive understanding of inserter and tipper production workflows including setup operation quality control and troubleshooting of high-speed printers
Proficiency in operating and maintaining Inserter and Tipper machines postage meters and material handling equipment
Experience with mailing software for address validation barcode generation and postal compliance
Knowledge of state and federal compliance regulations including OSHA standards and document security protocols.
Strong attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of printed materials and adherence to production standards.
Advanced problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions quickly.
Effective time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to train and mentor staff on equipment operation inserter and tipper operations and compliance with production protocols

Additional Considerations

Familiarity with DMV systems such as CSS OnBase and MoveIt for managing production data and documentation
Advanced expertise in troubleshooting high-speed inserters and coordinating complex production workflows
