Part-time: 20-25 hours weekly
ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The University of South Florida Police Department (USFPD) is a full service law enforcement agency dedicated to providing a safe environment for and in partnership with the community while remaining committed to assisting with personal and professional development of department members and to the principle of being community minded and service driven.
USFPD is organized into various bureaus divisions sections squads and units. The department is led by a command staff comprised of sworn and non-sworn members of the rank of captainand higher a communications and records manager and public information representative; all of whom report to the chief of police through an established chain-of-command.
The Operations Bureau is commanded by a captain who oversees the Patrol Division and the Community Service Officer Program. The Patrol Division is further broken down into four squads which provide direct law enforcement services to the community. The Special Operations Bureau is commanded by a captain who oversees the Special Operations Division which includes the K9 section Criminal Investigations Special Events and Crime Prevention; all of which are led by sergeants. The Administration Bureau captain alsooversees the Support Services Division. The Support Services Division includes the Professional Standards and Information Technology Sections. The accreditation training and background investigation units fall within the Professional Standards Section which is managed by a sergeant. The Communications & Records Division reports to a non-sworn manager.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Part-time Police Services Assistant performs specialized non-sworn law enforcement functions and coordinates non-sworn law enforcement support services. This position is responsible for maintaining an effective and efficient automated records system of police criminal activity information.
Responsibilities
Prepares and maintains the functions of a police model records and automated information system providing immediate recall of incidents reported or known to the University Police. Maintains automated records on all persons properties (lost found stolen recovered) and incidents occurring on campus. Maintains and processes Criminal Report Affidavits and Uniform Traffic Citations.
Supervises the data entry of collected information and inspects them for accuracy. Assembles and analyzes the collected data on a monthly basis for dissemination within the agency to the various sections. Collaborates with other agencies on the compiling of information for background checks on applicants. Assists in the response to public records requests and the redaction of body worn camera video as necessary.
Fingerprint applicants. Process and redact Public Records Requests. Accept and process subpoenas. Process and redact Expunged and Sealed Orders. Assist with statistical reports. Maintain the daily crime log. Answer phones. Maintain Full Access FCIC and CJIS Certification
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a High School diploma and six months to one year of experience or an Associates degree. Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge skills and abilities have been achieved.
