Job Summary
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
Position Duties
Food Service General Operations.
- Maintain a minimum of 90% on the County Health Department rating.
- Meet or exceed regulatory and professional standards for food display handling and storage.
- Meet or exceed regulatory and professional standards for the cleanliness and sanitation of food service areas and equipment.
- Ensure that the minimum staffing requirements to run a smooth food service operation are met.
- Promptly acknowledge guests courteously and professionally and ensure that employees follow the same customer-friendly guidelines.
- Respond to guest questions and complaints promptly and in a manner that reflects the Mission Vision and Spirit of the Rocket Center.
Banquet Functions
- Ensures set up and breakdown of tables decorations equipment serving areas and related activities in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensures that prepared meals are served to the guests accurately and timely.
- Ensure that all banquet staff are trained so catering operations meet and exceed Rocket Center standards.
- Ensure that the minimum staffing requirements are met to run smooth catering operations.
- Promptly acknowledge guests courteously and professionally and ensure that employees follow the same customer-friendly guidelines.
- Ensure that the Food Service equipment is properly secured and cleaned upon the conclusion of the day.
Banquet bar functions
- Compose bar pull sheets to accurately inventory the amount of alcohol pulled for each bar.
- Ensure any additional items needed throughout the event are logged on proper pull sheets.
- Run reports for each cash drawer and be sure money bags are sealed and secured.
- Reconcile pull sheets at the end of the event to log the amount of each item returned.
- Take reconciled pull sheets along with a copy of the register reading to the catering managers office for auditing.
- Be sure all areas containing alcohol are secured after event.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience
- Experience: 1-2 years of closely related hands-on work experience in a full-service dining facility including bars and buffet experience. Must have been at the supervisory/managerial level for at least 6 months the 1-2 years mentioned above. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must know food preparation and sanitation standards and be able to lead direct and schedule staff and resources. Must be able to interact with guests effectively and courteously and professionally.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements
- Walking and climbing (stairs) to access other departments.
- Standing for long periods (6-8 hours) instructing and training employees.
- Lifting carrying and pushing supplies & boxes up to 25 pounds to waist height.
- Bending kneeling and reaching to store/retrieve supplies.
- Sight reading wrist movements and feeling to operate food service equipment and computer terminals develop schedules and review reports.
- Talking and hearing to instruct employees and assist guests and trainees in person and over the telephone.
- This position interacts with guests and employees throughout the organization.
Supervisory Standards
- Adheres to organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Instructs coaches and encourages staff to support by action and example the mission and vision of the Center.
- Demonstrates good judgment within the supervision of staff.
- Effectively monitors staff performance and offers appropriate coaching counseling or supervision as required.
- Completes staff evaluations documentation etc. on time and effectively.
- Serves as an effective role model to staff by demonstrating exemplary work ethic.
Eligibility Qualifications
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Environmental Factors
- This position will work in a kitchen environment and indoor and outdoor venues.
Expected Hours of Work
The possible shifts for the position are 8am-4p 2p-10pm 4pm-12am and 5am-2p.
