Job Summary
Join our team at Thrive Behavioral Health as our Data Associate. The position will be an in-office role Monday through Friday based out of our Rosedale office and may require travel between our other offices in Bel Air Millersville Catonsville and Silver Spring.
The Data Associate supports Thrives growing data infrastructure by producing accurate timely reports; maintaining data quality; and contributing to the organizations broader data strategy. This entry-level role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented technologically savvy and interested in developing a career in data within a healthcare or behavioral health environment.
The Data Associate will play a key role in transforming large volumes of data into structured usable information to support leadership decision-making and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute recurring reports in accordance with established reporting schedules
- Generate and deliver ad hoc reports to support leadership and departmental needs
- Assist in building and maintaining a comprehensive agency data dictionary to standardize data definitions
- Write troubleshoot and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and reporting
- Clean validate and organize data to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Assist in maintaining and updating existing reports and datasets
- Support data quality assurance efforts including identifying inconsistencies or anomalies
- Collaborate with the Data Analyst and leadership to support ongoing data initiatives
- Contribute to the development and refinement of agency-wide metrics and reporting standards
Technical Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (required)
- Ability to work with large datasets and perform basic data cleaning and transformation (required)
- Foundational to intermediate experience with SQL (preferred)
- In the absence of SQL experience experience with other programs such as SAS SPSS R Python will be considered.
- Experience with Microsoft Access (preferred)
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI Tableau) (preferred)
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus

Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent or fiveyears work experience.
- Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. Data Analytics Information Systems Public Health or similar) or equivalent experience
- Experience in healthcare behavioral health or nonprofit settings is a plus but not required
Prefers CPR/First Aid Certification but not required.

This role is designed as an entry point into the agencys data function. As the organization continues to expand its data capabilities the Data Associate may have opportunities to grow into more advanced roles including specialization in reporting dashboard development or analytics and may become part of a larger data team.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of industry standards as related to the position of a Data Analyst in Healthcare.
- Extensive knowledge of PC software programs particularly Microsoft Word Excel & Outlook is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Access and SQL including ability to write queries based on business need
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with a variety of professionals and community members.
- Passion for improving access to behavioral health services and supporting those in need.
- A positive goal-oriented mindset and a team-player approach.
- Effective listener and solid verbal communication skills; must be able to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise conversations and foot traffic.
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision in an unstructured environment with multiple demands.
- Must possess a reading and writing level that provides for clear expression and/or understanding of assignments related to job description.
