Job Title: HVAC Apprenticeship Instructor

Charlottesville Area Technical Education Center (CATEC) is hiring for part-time evening teaching positions in HVAC for our Adult Apprenticeship programs.
Apprenticeship classes meet one night per week from 6-9 p.m. Candidates should be licensed in their trade. Teaching experience is desired but not required. Fall semester classes begin in late August and run until mid-December. Spring semester classes begin in mid-January and run until mid-May. Level 1 classes meet on Mondays Level 2 classes meet on Tuesdays Level 3 on Wednesdays and Level 4 on Thursdays.
Salary depending on experience up to $55 per hour.

Instructional Process
- Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the school philosophy goals and objectives.
- Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that provide for effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task.
- Plans and implements a program of study designed to meet individual needs of students.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies.
- Encourage student enthusiasm for the learning process and the development of good study habits.
- Provides progress and interim reports as required.
- Recognizes learning problems and makes referrals as appropriate.
- Demonstrates a strong grasp of subject matter.
Curriculum Development
- Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory and is willing to share this knowledge for continual improvement of the schools curriculum.
- Assists in the ongoing curriculum revision process including the revision of written courses of study.
Classroom Management
- Develops in accordance with school guidelines reasonable rules of classroom behavior and appropriate techniques that are consistently applied.
- Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Evaluates accomplishments of students on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods.
- Makes appropriate adjustments in the instructional program.
- Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students.
Public Relations
- Upholds and enforces school rules and regulations
- Maintains appropriate work habits including regular and punctual attendance.
- Works cooperatively with employers to strengthen the educational program for students.
