Our New Technology Team in R&D identifies and builds breakthrough ideas that will shape Sunstars future.
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on scientist ready to take the next step into leadership.
In this role you will lead from the lab while mentoring a small team. You will drive your own research projects while guiding a team of 4 scientists and technicians (5 total including you) helping turn new ideas into real technologies that support Sunstars long-term growth.
This role is ideal for someone who:
Has early industry experience (typically 38 years)
Enjoys solving complex technical problems
Is ready to begin leading people while staying hands-on
What Youll Do
Lead hands-on research in advanced materials and new technologies
Guide and mentor a small team (4 direct reports)
Develop new ideas with long-term business impact
Collaborate with product development manufacturing and business teams
Communicate results clearly and move projects forward
Contribute to Sunstars global innovation efforts
What Were Looking For
Required:
Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in polymer science materials science chemistry or related field
38 years of industry or applied research experience
Strong problem-solving skills and creativity in research
Interest in mentoring and developing others
Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
Preferred:
Experience with adhesives coatings sealants or polymers
Experience leading projects or mentoring others
Track record of innovation (patents products publications)
