POSITION SUMMARY:
The 6th Grade English Language Arts Teacher provides high-quality standards-based instruction designed to foster curiosity critical thinking and academic growth. This educator will create engaging learning experiences that build foundational skills in reading writing speaking and listening while deepening students comprehension and communication abilities. The ideal candidate demonstrates a passion for student success values collaboration within a professional learning community (PLC) and actively partners with families and colleagues to support each learners developmentï½academically socially and emotionally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create a Positive Learning Environment:
  • Develop effective management structures to promote and foster teaching learning and student achievement.
  • Establish routines that engage students through questioning speculation and originality.
  • Collaborate with specialists to provide inclusive learning opportunities and implement research-based practices for students with special needs.
  • Ensure the learning environment respects the dignity of each student and is perceived as fair and consistent.
  • Incorporate additional learning opportunities for both advanced and non-proficient students.
  • Organize classroom processes procedures and data collection to maximize instructional time.
  • Motivate engage and empower learners to actively track and monitor their learning progress.

• Instructional Design & Curriculum Development:
  • Design develop and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments using contemporary tools and resources.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from other grades or subject areas to integrate and link disciplines influencing school-wide curriculum and teaching practices.
  • Demonstrate mastery of content and ensure curriculum is rigorous relevant and applicable to all students.
  • Deliver content that aligns with real-world applications and is relevant to students experiences.
  • Integrate and align Colorado Academic Standards instructional objectives strategies learning activities materials and assessments to meet individual student needs.

  • Use data management tools to analyze student results and identify strengths and areas for improvement.

• Feedback & Communication:
  • Provide timely specific constructive and corrective feedback that encourages student success.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents and staff about student progress and learning opportunities.

  • Utilize technology (e.g. websites podcasts) to communicate with stakeholders and share information about student progress.

• Collaboration & Professional Development:
  • Actively participate in staff meetings PLCs and other required professional events.
  • Apply and implement new knowledge and skills to continuously improve instructional programming.
  • Advocate for and lead initiatives that enhance student success both in and outside of school.
  • Follow the professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making.
• Other Duties:
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned or requested.

SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Potential supervision of support personnel.
• Conduct supervisory duties in alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing training and development opportunities.
  • Assigning and directing work.
  • Offering performance feedback.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving issues.

BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently.
• Create and implement efficient process management strategies including:
  • Procedures
  • Instructional groups
  • Transition materials and supplies
• Accurately project budget needs for planning purposes.
• Maintain accurate records in compliance with professional standards state guidelines and school policies.

• Review and assess processes for improvement opportunities making necessary adjustments to ensure high-quality instruction.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree.
Masters degree(preferred).
English fluency will be determined through the interview process and licensure.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Colorado Teaching License with Elementary Education endorsement.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 10 (ten) pounds.

Frequent sitting bending walking and standing.
Occasional stooping kneeling squatting and reaching.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Mostly clean and comfortable.
Occasional exposure to adverse weather.

SALARY:
Salary placement ranges from $53464 to $103027 and is determined based on education years of experience and theNegotiated Agreement. The most currentLicensed Salary Scheduleis posted on theEnglewood Schools Career webpage. Englewood Schools accepts up to 19 years of verified experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
New hires or rehires will be responsible for the fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Per the negotiated agreement all teachers that start after student first day are temporary.
