Summer School - Monday July 6 2026 through Tuesday July 14 2026. 8 days 1 planning day 7 instructional days. 7.0 work hours per day. 7:45 am - 3:15 pm with a .50 lunch.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Instruct summer school with basic skills and knowledge in health occupations specifically medical assisting. Manage and teach one section of Medical Assisting.

  • Assume student supervisory responsibilities as assigned
  • Implement the Medical Assisting curriculum and evaluate daily instruction units to reflect current clinical methods and practices.
  • Promote and supervise student leadership (professional development) activities as an integral part of the curriculum.
  • Evaluate student classroom and clinical experiences.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment; safe and pleasant classroom atmosphere and effective classroom management and discipline procedures while maintaining good instructor/student communication and rapport.
  • Organize manage and appropriately maintain the instructional facility equipment and resources which will serve as a positive model to students and provide a safe working environment.
  • Work in cooperation with Cascadia Tech administration and staff to positively promote Cascadia Tech Medical Assisting and all Academy programs for student recruitment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a current WA State Medical Assisting (MA) Certificate
  • Minimum of three years of medical assisting experience
  • Experience working with medical assistants in a supervisory or instruction environment
  • Knowledge of the health careers profession
  • Must have regular consistent attendance
  • Prefer prior teaching and/or supervisory experience
  • Ability to effectively present and teach medical assistant and health careers skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of an instructional team
  • Demonstrated ability in positive human relations
  • Demonstrated awareness appreciation and respect of diversity among students and adults.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability
  • Must be flexible exhibit a commitment to accomplishment possess outstanding communication and conceptual skills demonstrate appropriate and positive student relationships possess a strong professional orientation and be willing to actively participate in a team environment.
  • Experience and/or training or willingness to take course work to increase knowledge and use of the following instructional and management strategies to include: First Aid/CPR Anti-Bias Project Based Learning Standards Based Grading Restorative Justice Equity and Trauma Informed Practices in Education Anti-bias multicultural education.
  • Qualifies for a Washington state Secondary Vocational Teaching Certificate
  • Qualifies for a Type II Drivers License
