Job Summary
40% Football Student-Athlete Healthcare & Risk Management
Oversee the healthcare of football student-athletes within the USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. This includes but is not limited to- evaluations emergency care injury/illness care/treatments rehabilitation event medical coverage. This person will provide risk management strategies to ensure health and safety of the student-athletes while minimizing risk to the university. Provides leadership guidance and assisting the Director of Athletic Medicine within the Division of Athletic Medicine
25% Provider Coordination & Direct Patient Care
Manage provider visits communication between providers and patients as well as setting up tests and rehabilitation visits. Direct patient care when needed based on practices games and travel schedules for football needs. Works with the director to
ensure the medical football student-athlete policies and procedures are up to date and applied appropriately.
20% Supervision of Athletic Training Staff (Football)
Oversight of athletic trainers for the sport of football. This will include one on one supervision providing feedback formative and summative evaluation scheduling and travel coordination and providing feedback from the coaching staff to the athletic medicine team.
10% Facility Management & Event Coordination
Assisting managing facility and implementation of new facility needs including and not limited to the athletic medicine facility practice football facility outdoor practice area strength and conditioning and coordination with home and away game sites.
5% Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- This position requires a Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum
of five years related exempt experience including two years of experience managing exempt
level employees. - NATABOC certification State of Florida Department of Health Athletic Training Licensure
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-7 years experience with NCAA Division I football experience or NFL equivalent
- Soft tissue mobilization/massage/manipulation techniques
- Oversight of employees
- Masters degree in athletic training
Intercollegiate or Professional Athletics experience

SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an
alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:
(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;
(c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;
(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure certification or registration
required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
