Main Purpose of Job

This positionis a full performance level of technical work involving the installationrepair and maintenance of radio transmitters receivers communicationsub-systems audio transport networks (microwave Fiber optic & Il) voicelogging recorders and other related communication equipment as well asperforming the same activities with speed control devices in-car camerasystems and body worn cameras in accordance with Federal CommunicationsCommission (FCC) regulations.

POSITION DUTIES

Installation removals maintenance/repair ofvehicle mobiles & handheld portable radios facility communicationconsoles radio remote control units along with other technologies such asin-car cameras speed control devices in-car computer systems and body worncameras along with any auxiliary equipment associated to each of the abovesystems.


Installation removals maintenance/repair of conventional base stationsconsolette transceivers antenna & combiner systems interoperabilitysubsystems audio transport technology systems such as microwave Tl/EthernetT1/DSO equipment and fiber optics located at remote tower sites and otheragency facilities across the State along with any auxiliary equipmentassociated to each of the above systems.


Perform yearly routine maintenance troubleshooting analysis circuitalignments & measurements programming updates to audio transport systemsradio transceivers T1/Ethernet systems conventional channel gateways (CCGWs)and NetGuardians located at remote tower sites and agency facilities.


Perform NICE Voice Logger routine maintenance troubleshooting analysis &repair installation connectivity to agency phone sets interoperability radiosubsystems and Vesta 911 where applicable.

Maintains accurate inventory and maintenancerecords on all equipment in the technicians assigned service region. Ordersand maintains a sufficient number of parts and supplies for the operation ofthe multiple assigned radio shops. Maintains shop & remote tower site (bothto internal and external areas site cleanliness through regular cleaning ( trash & other items).


Perform monthly routine generator checks and fuel inspections to generators andHVAC systems assigned to ESD at agency facilities and remote tower sites. Ensuringthat the appropriate amount of fuel exists at each site.


Maintains the yearly certification accuracy of all electronic test equipmentexists within the limits specified by the manufacturer and the FCC.


Performs periodic function tests with the Demstel Phone System locate at eachfacility within the technicians service region.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from anaccredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Five years ofexperience in the repair of electronic communications equipment four yearsmust have included the repair of two-way FM radios.


Notes:


1. Candidates may substitute the successful completion of a one-year program ofstudy in radio electronics at a recognized training school trade school orcollege for up to one year of the required general experience.

2. Candidates maysubstitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissionedofficer in Electronics Technician (Communications) classifications or SignalCorps Aerospace Maintenance or Data/ Communications Maintenance specialtycodes in the aviation communications field of work on a year-for-year basis forthe required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the followingpreferred qualifications. It is important that you include clear and specificinformation on your application regarding your qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

years ofexperience(maintenance repair and installation) with voice audiotransport circuits (DS0) dealing with microwave fiber optics andT1backhaul systems.

25 TDMA Land Mobile Radio.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Applicants for this classification may be required topossess either a Federal Communications Commission General RadiotelephoneOperator license a FCC Ship Radar Endorsement a National Association ofBusiness and Educational Radio certificate or an Associated Public SafetyCommunications Officer Incorporated certificate. If license or certificate isrequired applicants must list their license or certificate number andexpiration date on the application.



2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties whichrequire the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such dutieswill be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid inthe State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for this classification may be given a medical examination to determine their ability to perform the duties of the job classification.

SELECTION PROCESS

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating ofyour education training and experience related to the requirements of theposition.
