Role Overview

The Chiller / HVAC Service Technician IV services installs maintains and repairs large-scale industrial and commercial cooling systems including centrifugal screw and scroll chillers. As a senior-level field service professional this technician handles the most complex equipment teardowns and comprehensive system diagnostics coordinates work on large projects and serves as a trusted technical resource for customers across critical environments. The role participates in a predictable on-call standby rotation and operates with a high degree of independence and minimal supervision.

Core Responsibilities

  • Service operate maintain and troubleshoot complex chiller systems including air-cooled centrifugal and water-cooled chillers.
  • Perform complete equipment teardown and comprehensive system diagnostics on large commercial equipment.
  • Coordinate work processes on large projects including disassembly and reassembly of large commercial equipment for troubleshooting and planned maintenance as indicated in the service agreement.
  • Proficiently operate hand tools power tools gauges and measuring equipment.
  • Complete service contracts quoted projects and demand service calls as directed.
  • Develop long-term customer relationships and explain work performed to the customers satisfaction.
  • Provide customer solutions and communicate and document project status to all project stakeholders.
  • Participate in the technician on-call standby rotation as dictated by business unit policies and procedures.
  • Purchase materials and issue purchase order numbers to suppliers.
  • Safely operate motor vehicles and trailers meeting fleet safety and driving policy requirements and all company safety requirements.
  • Maintain equipment tools and inventory stock on the service vehicle.
  • Work effectively with app-based software.

Required Background

  • Minimum of 7 years of specialized experience in commercial chiller service demonstrating deep technical expertise and industry knowledge.
  • Experience with centrifugal and screw chillers (Trane York Carrier Daikin or similar).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills on 200 to 1000 ton systems.
  • Knowledge of VFDs pumps cooling towers and BAS controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of service processes techniques and codes.
  • Proficiency reading complex schematics and prints.
  • Proven ability to work as a proactive self-directed professional who can manage complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Professional demeanor with solid interpersonal skills and strong written and oral communication.
  • Valid drivers license with a driving record that meets fleet safety and driving policy requirements.
  • Full chiller teardown experience preferred.
