A provincial body is driving a major digital transformation initiative to modernize public services and improve how citizens interact with government programs. As part of this effort the Digital Design and Delivery Division (DDD) is expanding its team.
This is a unique opportunity to work on high-impact public sector projects that focus on human-centered design service innovation and agile delivery.
Role Overview
As a Service Designer you will work within cross-functional agile teams to design and improve government services. You will play a key role in understanding user needs identifying service gaps and delivering innovative accessible and efficient service experiences.
Youll contribute across the full service lifecycle-from discovery and research to prototyping testing and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Apply human-centered design (HCD) methods to digital transformation initiatives
Conduct user research field studies and behavioral analysis
Facilitate co-design workshops with stakeholders and users
Develop:
Journey maps & service blueprints
Process maps & user story maps
Prototypes and concept tests
Perform usability testing and service evaluations
Analyze multi-channel service experiences (web mobile phone in-person etc.)
Identify gaps opportunities and service improvements
Support change management and organizational transformation efforts
Develop service strategies roadmaps and performance metrics
Collaborate with product owners developers and business teams in agile environments
Mandatory Requirements
2 years of experience in service design research and delivery
3 years of experience working in or with the public sector
2 years working in cross-functional agile teams
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience in:
Planning and conducting user research and analysis
Creating journey maps service blueprints and design artifacts
Usability testing and performance measurement
Digital transformation initiatives (especially within government)
Change management practices
Experience working on large-scale complex service design projects
Prior experience with the Government of Alberta is an asset

Service performance reports and metrics
Strategy documents and transformation roadmaps
Work Environment
Primarily remote within Canada
