Location: Mölndal Sweden
We are seeking an experiencedLab Managerto take responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of a defined set ofin vivo laboratoriesat our clients site in Mölndal. This is a key role ensuring that laboratories operate safely efficiently and in full compliance with health safety and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will act as thesingle point of contactfor research staff within the laboratories working closely with facility management teams suppliers scientists and senior stakeholders to ensure continuity of critical technical services and a high-quality working environment.
Role Overview
As Lab Manager you will be responsible for the operational performance compliance and continuous improvement of assigned laboratory spaces. You will work independently proactively identify improvement opportunities and document progress while maintaining close collaboration with internal and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Laboratory Management
Operational management of a defined set of laboratories serving as a single point of contact for laboratory scientists
Organise and lead regular lab user group floor lead and reference team meetings
Ensure laboratories operate efficiently by liaising with all Facility Management (FM) suppliers
Plan and coordinate preventative and scheduled maintenance with minimal impact on daily operations
Ensure FM helpdesk requests are logged followed up and completed
Investigate deviations from service level agreements (SLAs) perform root cause analysis and report findings and improvement plans
Facilitate laboratory inductions for new staff and temporary lab users
Support organised visits from internal and external partners including regulatory bodies
Provide operational support to projects to identify business needs and drive process improvements
Equipment & Technical Support
Liaise with IT and other service providers to ensure equipment is operational available and fully utilised
Coordinate equipment breakdowns servicing and planned maintenance with responsible parties
Attend planning meetings and consolidate fault logging
Perform specialist equipment performance checks on defined instruments as agreed with department leadership
Documentation Training & Compliance
Assist in the development of SOPs particularly related to reagents consumables and cost-saving initiatives
Lead the development of working guidelines and instructions for laboratory routines and instruments
Create maintain and update documentation supporting compliance training and service delivery
Review and support training of lab support staff to ensure consistent standards
Facilitate consumable inventories and provide reports to department leadership
Report on KPIs relevant metrics SLAs and weekly operational activities
Health Safety & Environment (SHE)
Support the leadership team with health and safety compliance and continuous improvement initiatives
Facilitate SHE meetings and support SHE documentation including risk assessments
Ensure SHE roles are filled and relevant information is communicated effectively to lab users
Participate in SHE and service audits and lead implementation of corrective actions
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
Proactively identify and implement efficiency and process improvements
Identify opportunities to optimise the use of shared laboratory space
Build strong relationships with leadership teams scientists FM teams and suppliers
Support the development of a Lab Manager network to share best practices
Work with scientists to identify future requirements and emerging technologies
Liaise with external suppliers and industry specialists to arrange demos and training for new equipment
Qualifications & Skills
Masters or PhD in a scientific discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
Several years of experience working in a laboratory environment ideally with laboratory management responsibility
Excellent English and Swedish communication skills
Knowledge and experience of GLS and GxP regulations and audit requirements is a must
Strong knowledge of SHE requirements
Proven experience working with SHE policies and procedures
Strong customer service mindset with a collaborative approach
Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and drive improvements and cost savings
Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma methodologies is an advantage
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions
Excellent planning organisational analytical and networking skills
Project management capability and ability to manage multiple priorities
