Position: Receptionist (Office Specialist 2)

This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

Salary Range:$3810 - $5612

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of general clerical experience one (1) year of which included typing word processing or other experience generating documents OR

  • Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one (1) year of general clerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

What you will do

The person in this position will provide receptionist service and perform general office duties carried out through typical clerical tasks to support the Trial Division.

Duties

Reception and General Service

This role will serve as the first point of contact by welcoming visitor directing them to appropriate personnel or resources answering and routing phone calls and implementing call intake procedures. The person in this position will manage administrative and scheduling tasks using Clio including updating contact information creating events setting reminders monitoring attorney calendars and coordinating conference room use. They will also process incoming mail and legal documents support attorneys and staff provide Spanish interpretation as needed and assists with special projects or additional duties as assigned.

The receptionist will actively participate as a supportive team member by assisting co-workers supervisors and related partners as needed. Theyll help to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders through collaboration cross-divisional involvement and constructive problem-solving. This position will help to foster a positive respectful and inclusive workplace culture that values diverse perspectives and upholds a discrimination and harassment free environment.

7. Experience working in a legal office preferred.

Who we are.

The Oregon Public Defense Commission (OPDC) is an agency governed by a 13-member commission appointed by the Governor which serves as the governing body for Oregons public defense system. The Commission provides policy direction and oversight for the administration of the system. The legal services provided by OPDC represent an essential component of Oregons public safety system.

OPDCs mission is to ensure constitutionally competent and effective legal representation for people eligible for a public office includes the Executive Appellate Trial Trial Development & Resources and Administrative Services Divisions.

OPDC negotiates contracts with trial-level public defense providers and administers and distributes funds for representation and related services for cases during the biennium for criminal juvenile and civil commitment cases. The Agency provides compliance and oversight to the trial community providers through quality assurance practices training and Services processes all expenses related to representation in public defense cases. The Appellate Division provides direct legal representation in the state appellate courts in criminal cases juvenile dependency and termination of parental rights cases and parole cases. Other services in the Agency include Data Collection and Analysis General Counsel Human Resources Information Technology Services Internal Audit and Policy Development.
