Who are we looking for

GHD is excited to announce our search for the US Commercial Manager.

Commercial Managers are key project team members involved in the pursuit and successful execution of projects primarily projects that are Elevated Risk Activities under GHDs LOA.

The Commercial Manager is accountable along with the Project Director and Project Manager for the successful commercial delivery of projects including compliance with all contractual notification and claim requirements within contractually prescribed timeframes.

The Commercial Manager is responsible for ensuring that all relevant GHD risk management and governance processes and procedures are adhered to throughout the project life cycle.

This position can be based in most of our US GHD office locations. GHD supports a hybrid work model.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved:

Provide consistent commercial risk and contract management leadership to support GHDs governance and performance throughout the project life cycle to facilitate successful outcomes with a particular focus on projects classified as Elevated Risk Activities as defined under GHDs Limits of Authority (LOA). This includes:

• Assisting with the positioning of GHD to undertake services including assisting Legal Counsel to prepare teaming partnering and/or joint venture agreements.

• Working collaboratively with Legal Counsel the Operations Manager and other stakeholders to agree our commercial and risk mitigation strategies including formulation and negotiation of contractual departures to align contract terms with GHDs risk appetite.

• Participating in Tender Review Group (TRG) and if applicable subsequent gateway approvals as required under the LOA including assisting bid teams with the preparation of briefing presentations/notes to senior management. Prepare regional guidance notes to inform GHD personnel how to effectively address and/or manage key commercial/risk management or governance issues.

• Prepare guides to assist project teams to effectively manage contract/commercial risks associated with master services or panel agreements.

• Prepare and deliver commercial and contract management training to GHD personnel.

• Assist with financial modelling associated with GHDs commercial offers to clients.

• Undertake Commercial Health Checks or other commercial reviews for projects in accordance with relevant procedures.

For success in this position you will possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree advanced degree preferred in a related field.

• Strong commercial and legal acumen in the professional services and/or construction contracting industry with a minimum of 15 years experience in the successful delivery of projects and/or in a corporate governance role.

• Detailed understanding of the commercial frameworks strategies and drivers of construction contractor government quasi-government and private-sector clients.

• Extensive experience negotiating commercial contracts.

• Extensive experience in the successful commercial and contract management of projects.

• Commercially astute with sound business acumen.
