Description

The Town of Erie is searching for our newest team member to join us in our Wastewater division as our firstWastewater Utility Maintenance Mechanic! This is a newly approved position for 2026in order tobetter support our reclamation facilitywithfacilityneeds.

Under general supervisionour Maintenance Mechanicparticipatesin the maintenance of utility plants and related infrastructure andassistswith the monitoring of a water or wastewater the entry level work involves closely supervised training and a limited range of duties.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$28.75/hr- $33.21/hr

Full Hourly Range

$28.75/hr- $37.67/hr

Work Hours:Typical working hours are6:30AM 3:00PM

  • Please note: The person in this position must be able to work an on-call rotating schedule as assigned and as needed for snow-related/other emergencies.

Work Location:Erie North Water Reclamation Facility(501 State Hwy 52 Erie CO 80516)

  • This position is 100% in-person andnoteligible for remote work

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspectsmaintainsservicesand repairs a variety of equipment such as pumps motors drives electrical supplies meters associated with water treatment watersupplyand water storage facilities.
  • Prepares work orders and estimates of time and parts needed.
  • Studies equipment having frequent breakdowns todeterminecause andattemptto prevent future occurrences.
  • Operates hand and power shop tools to perform repairs.
  • Maintains all hand and power tools in safe and efficient operating condition.
  • Operates a variety of equipment including light vehicles chain saws back hoes snow removalequipmentand lawn mowers.
  • Performs a variety of related duties asrequired(e.g. mowing weed cutting chemical loading and unloading.
  • Regulates use of equipment in the absence of supervisory personnel if needed.
  • Responsible for shop area maintenancesafetyand cleanliness.
  • Providesgeneral guidance to temporary or seasonal laborers as assigned.
  • Performs related work asrequiredand assigned.
  • Mayassistin the performance of custodial and grounds maintenance duties as sweeping mopping painting carpentry compostingdutiesand plumbing; lead plant tours for visitors.
  • Learns the maintenance and monitoring and some operations of a water/wastewater system.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Two years of experience in utility maintenance or plant operations.
  • Must have a valid Colorado Driver License and satisfactory driving record.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
