Summary of Job Duties:
The Business Process Specialist supports the Process Innovation (HCM & Finance) team by analyzing optimizing and sustaining business processes across human capital management (HCM) finance and related administrative functions. This role partners with functional stakeholders business process owners and technical teams to improve workflows enhance data integrity and ensure alignment with institutional strategy compliance requirements and system capabilities.The Specialist performs end-to-end business process analysis including discovery process mapping requirements gathering testing coordination troubleshooting and documentation. This role supports enterprise systems such as Workday and contributes to process standardization governance and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Business Process Specialist also contributes to emerging process innovation efforts including leveraging automation reporting and AI/data-driven tools to enhance business process efficiency and decision-making.
Regular reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial collaborative working relationships across the institution.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Business Administration Accounting Human Resources Information Systems or a related field
Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications.
Foundational to mid-level experience (internships to 3 years) in business analysis operations business process management or system support
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. Workday Oracle SAP)
Demonstrated strong analytical problem-solving and documentation skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functional areas and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in a related field
Experience supporting Workday HCM and/or Finance processes
Experience in higher education or large complex organizations
Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean Six Sigma PMP)
Experience facilitating user acceptance testing (UAT) requirements documentation and process redesign
Exposure to reporting data analysis or business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI)
Experience working with automation tools AI solutions or data agents to support business processes reporting or decision-making
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Working knowledge of business processes across HCM (e.g. recruitment onboarding compensation) and/or Finance (e.g. procurement accounting budgeting)
Strong process mapping analysis and optimization skills
Ability to translate business needs into functional requirements and system solutions
Strong analytical thinking with attention to detail and data accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel Word PowerPoint) and process documentation tools (e.g. Visio Lucidchart)
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
Strong organizational and time management skills
Client-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence
