POSITION SPECIFICS
We are seeking an Applied Engineering Technologist to join our Spectrum and Signature Solutions team of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. This division is invested in the spectrum convergence mission space. Our mission is to Understand shape and exploit the electromagnetic environment for the Warfighters advantage. Develop strategic & operational advantages for the warfighter and defend national interests across the vehicle domain.

You will:
- Collaborate with project leadership with the conceptual design of complex electromechanical systems and subsystems
- Conduct tests provide results address issues and recommend modifications related to electrical mechanical or software subsystems
- Provide knowledge in radar and communications systems for air and sea-based operations by assessing performance using geospatial intelligence systems
- Contribute to solutions for the automation/control of RF instrumentation.
- Conduct RF/microwave lab-based and in-the-field measurements and experimentation
- Facilitate measurements at outdoor test ranges
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of and work towards developing an advanced knowledge of design and analysis tools test and measurement equipment languages and available products and services for RF measurements
- Assist with field-measurement setups and test plans
- Occasional travel per sponsor and program requirements
Required skills/Experience areas include:
- Active security clearance at the Top Secret level or higher
- Hands on experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Hands on experience is required with in-the-lab and in-the-field troubleshooting of military communication and information systems
- Familiarity with MATLAB and/or Python for instrument control and data analysis
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Past success in providing ideas in written form for clear comprehension to an audience
Your working location will fully on-site located in State College PA but options exist for hybrid of on-site/work from home based on project-dependent ability. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

SALARY & BENEFITS
