Job Summary
Coffeyville Regional Medical Center or CRMC is a 25-bed non-profit critical access hospital serving Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma since 1949. As a rural hospital CRMC is surprising because of its large size and wide variety of services. The Account Coordinator works closely with patients regarding their medical billing. The position coordinates with healthcare staff to ensure bills are properly coded processed and documentation of patient diagnoses and treatment is accurate for optimum insurance claim reimbursement. The Account Coordinator bills insurance companies for all healthcare charges pursues collection of claims until payment is made by insurance companies and performs other work associated with the patient billing process.
JOB DUTIES:
- Receives Patient Phone calls and completes follow-up calls until questions are resolved
- Collaborates with the billing vendor
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure correct diagnosis and procedure codes are reported on billing
- Keep current on all billing and benefit changes for third-party insurance carriers
- Monitor clams for missing information
- Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy
- Complete work in a timely manner to assure compliance with departmental standards and filing of claims
The Account Coordinator assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients medical staff and the public
- Detail-oriented with proven ability to multitask
- Computer skills including MSOffice Outlook and Meditech preferred
- 10 key knowledge and computer experience required
- Ability to move position self consistently operate various types of equipment able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations as well as exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally and or 10 pounds of force frequently or negligible constantly. Walking or standing to a significant degree or sitting constantly and pushing/pulling controls
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- H.S. graduate or GED required
- Associates or Bachelor Degree preferred
- 1-2 years of medical coding and/or billing preferred
