1Shale & Tight Business Unit is accepting online applications for the position of Field Coordinator LDAR in Hobbs or Carlsbad New Mexico through May 13th 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Mountain Time).
The Field Coordinator LDAR position is critical to the safe and environmentally sound operations of surface maintenance equipment by actively identifying potential fugitive emissions using advanced technology (optical gas imaging cameras) and quickly implementing solutions to limit emission duration and return to a safe state. This position enables Chevron to continue operating MCBU assets with an ever cleaner lower-carbon solution.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Maintain OGI camera certification
Perform Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) inspections across all regions of New Mexico. This includes conducting regulatory inspections of a large range of surface equipment to ensure compliance with applicable specifications codes safety standards and operating procedures.
Locate and determine the relative severity of light hydrocarbon gas leaks for the purpose of improving facility safety equipment reliability and regulatory requirements.
Perform thermography inspections of field equipment/vessels and provide interpretations and maintenance recommendations based on findings.
Adheres to all state and federal regulations.
Perform OGI- optical gas imaging inspections during facility start-up activities and post maintenance activities to ensure facilities are started up in a safe/clean manner.
Perform periodic accuracy tests including calibration inspection and maintenance of all equipment related to job requirements.
Complete surface minor/routine maintenance equipment repairs as needed during inspections to quickly address problems.
Compile and submit follow-up compliance work requests for tasks that are not able to be repaired during inspections.
Daily driving of approximately 90 miles or more as required completing assigned jobs and/or repairs.
Work well with others helping assisting or covering routes while others are off.
Support the Prioritization of LDAR Work Orders and help develop a schedule for LDAR Thermographers.
Evaluate and provide direction for the training competency verification and mentorship of field and personnel as related to LDAR/Thermographer Work.
Will be a Mentor for other LDAR team members in performing all job duties including data recording OGI & IR inspections leak repairs & troubleshooting.
May require travel and lodging to meet the required LDAR needs.
Self-driven candidate who communicates well with the supervisor and team is a team player.
Position will require CMMS (InforEAM) skills and knowledge and will assist with detailed work order scheduling as needed.
Will coordinate and lead work on non-regulatory and third-party requests as well as items such as Operations requests Compressor PMs and Leak completions Compressor Liasson Flyover/Satellite reporting.
Attend operations daily coordination meetings and third-party compression meetings and take needed actions as required.
This is a safety-sensitive position.
Required Qualifications:
Valid Drivers License
Must have a minimum of 1-year LDAR & Optical Gas Imaging related experience.
Must have extensive knowledge in the State Federal and nonregulatory Regulations including but not limited to OOOOa OOOOb NRSP NMED and CAFO.
Must be able to work A 9/80 schedule to include hours extending into the weekend and/or holidays if necessary.
Ability to travel to different field locations.
Strong background and experience in Oil & Gas Operations or Maintenance.
Must have a high school diploma
Preferred Qualifications:
Must be able to manage complex and evolving task/responsibility schedules and be able to prioritize responsibilities daily to ensure the highest priorities are addressed and regulatory compliance is maintained at all times.
Must be able to work independently with minimal daily oversight and support; most field locations are isolated in remote locations. Extreme heat and weather conditions should be expected.
Proficient in PC skills for various computer programs needed to perform job responsibilities including EAM/CMMS Power BI Excel Microsoft Word etc.
