Were looking for a passionate curious and talented Business Intelligence Engineer to join our HR team in support of a growing business segment which provides critical services for AWS national security customers. This is a high business impact role for a candidate who can build data solutions that drive operational excellence automate manual processes and deliver actionable insights. Your ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives evangelize AI-powered solutions and drive efficiency through automation is key to success.

This position requires superior analytical strength attention to detail excellent communication skills and the ability to synthesize moving parts of the business to drive results. The role demands a strong sense of urgency sound judgement and willingness to roll up your sleeves. You will work with HR Leaders Security global stakeholders AWS business ops/finance and business-aligned program teams. The right candidate will possess a strong technical background in data engineering and analytics thrive in an ever-changing environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.

From Day 1 Business Intelligence Engineers are given ownership and autonomy to make data-driven decisions that drive significant impact on the customer experience and the business. This role requires working across many domains including HR Security Engineering Compensation and Finance with high visibility to senior leaders at AWS.

Key job responsibilities
Serve our customers with urgency and excellence. Partner with builders HR specialists and business leaders to understand their data needs and deliver impactful solutions. Respond to questions with data-driven analysis. Build self-service tools that empower customers to make informed decisions quickly.

Drive innovation with AI-powered self-service analytics. Evangelize and pilot AI/ML use cases leveraging QuickSuite to transform how we work. Build interactive dashboards and AI-powered agents that enable teams to answer their own questions. Explore automation frameworks machine learning models and agentic workflows to improve our data capabilities. Challenge the status quo and bring bold ideas that reshape our approach to workforce analytics.

Deliver operational success. Support execution of key deliverables such as Monthly Business Reviews and specialized compensation administration. Build scalable solutions that move processes from manual to automated in support of growing scale and complexity. Move fast iterate quickly and take ownership of problems to drive them to resolution.

Ensure data integrity. Develop and maintain reporting QuickSight dashboards that synthesize the needs of HR security recruiting and business teams to deliver accurate reliable data. Ensure data quality and audit compliance across workforce analytics and compensation programs.

Build scalable infrastructure. Design and implement ETL pipelines data models and warehousing solutions. Write quality SQL and Python code to transform raw data into structured analysis-ready datasets that enable smart decision making.

About the team
This global team of HR leaders are distributed across multiple sites in support of our customers. We are a passionate team committed to the success of our business and to each other. We index high on Ownership Customer Obsession and Bias for Action. This role will be based with our team in Herndon VA.

- Bachelors degree in computer science engineering analytics mathematics statistics IT or equivalent or 1 years of relevant technical position experience
- 3 years of business analyst data analyst or similar role experience
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with data modeling warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with data visualization and dashboard development
- US Citizenship required
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US security clearance

- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2 DynamoDB S3 and Redshift
- Experience with reporting and Data Visualization tools such as Quick Sight / Tableau / Power BI or other BI packages
- Experience analyzing HR metrics and using data insights to drive business decisions
- Experience communicating complex concepts clearly and persuasively to different audiences
- Experience dealing well with ambiguity prioritizing needs and delivering measurable results in an agile environment
- Demonstrated ability to evangelize and pilot AI/ML tools or automation frameworks

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical dental vision prescription Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans EAP Mental Health Support Medical Advice Line Flexible Spending Accounts Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage) 401(k) matching paid time off and parental leave.
