THE ROLE
We are seeking a Legal Counsel for a leading technology company in Zurich Switzerland. The primary focus of this role is data privacy and data protection including advising on regulatory compliance supporting privacy-related initiatives and providing legal guidance on the handling of personal data in technology-driven projects. The position also involves negotiating commercial and IT-related agreements and supporting projects related to artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the organization. Fluency in German and English is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advise on data protection privacy and information governance matters ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Support the development and implementation of privacy frameworks and compliance processes.
- Review and negotiate data processing procurement vendor licensing and other commercial agreements.
- Collaborate with procurement IT product sales and security teams to provide practical legal support.
- Deliver privacy training and awareness sessions to internal stakeholders.
- Support AI and emerging technology initiatives particularly regarding privacy and data use.
- Draft review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements including procurement vendor licensing and service contracts.
- Master of Law (LL.M. or lic. iur./MLaw) preferably from a Swiss university; admission to practice law is an advantage.
- At least three years of relevant legal experience in the IT or technology sector ideally in an in-house or secondment role.
- Demonstrated ability to independently draft and negotiate commercial agreements.
- Strong business acumen and sound risk awareness.
- Clear and effective communicator with confident presentation skills.
- Fluency in German and English.
