Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Marine Carpenter to join our team in New Orleans Louisiana. This position involves building repairing and installing wooden and composite structures on marine vessels. The ideal candidate will have strong carpentry skills attention to detail and experience working in marine environments. Experience working on yachts or high-end vessels is strongly preferred.

The Marine Carpenter will work on both interior and exterior carpentry projects including cabinetry trim work decking bulkheads and structural framing. This role requires the ability to read blueprints work with marine-grade materials and collaborate with other marine trades to ensure quality craftsmanship and compliance with marine industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Construct repair and install wooden structures and components on boats and marine vessels.

• Perform interior and exterior carpentry including cabinetry trim decking bulkheads and framing.

• Repair or replace damaged wood laminates and composite materials.

• Read and interpret blueprints drawings and technical specifications.

• Use hand tools power tools and marine-specific equipment safely and effectively.

• Work with materials such as teak plywood fiberglass laminates and marine-grade composites.

• Ensure all work meets marine industry standards and safety requirements.

• Collaborate with other marine trades including mechanics electricians and painters.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Must Haves

• 2 years of carpentry experience (marine carpentry preferred).

• Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques and carpentry tools.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

• Experience with cabinet making trim work or finish carpentry.

• Ability to work in marine environments and confined spaces.

• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Preferred

• Experience with yacht building or yacht refit projects.

• Experience working with teak decking yacht interiors or high-end vessel finishes.

• Knowledge of fiberglass repair and laminating.

• Familiarity with marine construction standards and practices.

• Previous experience working in shipyards marinas or marine repair facilities.

Work Environment

• Shipyards boatyards and marine repair facilities.
