The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District) a leader in protecting Floridas water resources is seeking an Engineer in support of the Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) Program. This position will work on a wide variety of projects related to natural systems restoration and water quality improvements in a planned effort to restore our most valuable natural resources. The successful candidate will perform project management and technical duties including contract management negotiations construction administration hydraulic/hydrologic model review stormwater retrofit design plans and specifications review working with stakeholders project tracking preparing budgets and cost tracking.

This role is considered hybrid which means the employee will be required to come on-site and work a portion of their time remotely (must live in Florida). Starting Compensation:
Engineer 3:$66180.00 - $91203.50
Engineer 4:$71460.00 - $98476.00
Engineer 5:$77159.00 - $106342.00
The starting salary ranges are included for the Engineerprofile which reflects the minimum to approximately 50% of the respective pay grades. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.
Essential Functions
- Conducts technical review of studies engineering designs hydrologic & hydraulic (H&H) models and construction documents supporting natural systems restoration and water quality improvement projects.
- Manages SWIM District Initiatives ensuring alignment with project objectives District priorities and compliance with District procedures and policies.
- Negotiates scopes of work and associated professional service fees with consultants and partners.
- Leads project and technical presentations to internal teams governing bodies and external stakeholders
- Provides technical guidance mentorship and engineering practice support to staff engineers and scientists.

Professional Engineer:

- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Water Resources Engineering Environmental Engineering Civil Engineering or related field
- Five (5) years related work experience
