BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
WFP first entered China in 1979. Now we carry out innovative pilot projects to improve smallholder farmers livelihoods and preschool childrens nutrition status build inclusive and resilience of food system raise funds to help people in need and share Chinas development experience with other developing countries to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger.
The Programme Operations Unit of WFP China enhances the impact of WFPs mission and work in China through its support to the Government of China to develop long-term approaches and mechanisms for solving relative poverty and multi-dimensional poverty and strengthen the connection between poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the primary supervision of the Head of Programme Operations the Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
Contribute towards the development of a limited number of projects plans and processes ensuring alignment with wider programme policies and guidance.
Provide project management support to specific and defined programmes and projects that are relatively straightforward in nature ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes that complies with WFP standards and procedures.
Follow data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
Research and analyse policy and operational issues to support senior colleagues in the development of policies programmes and activities.
Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities that enable informed decision-making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
Liaise with internal counterparts to ensure effective collaboration monitor ongoing projects.
Support the identification development and management of potential partnerships to leverage resources needed for programmes.
Assist the programme team to prepare concept notes and project proposals for donor funding support;
Support documenting project best practices and experience and evidence generation;
Contribute to the effort of amplifying the impact and result of domestic projects to the internal and external partners with powerful communication tools and platforms;
Others as required.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: At least the third year of university education in International Affairs Economics Nutrition/Health Agriculture Environmental Science Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance.
Skills and Competencies: Proficiency at Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) required for work; Ability to work in multi-cultural environment; Ability to meet deadlines; Compliance with the rules and regulations of the organisation and the team. Ability to use photo and video editing software is a merit.
Language: Fluency (level C) in English and Chinese is required. Fluency in other WFP official working languages is a asset.
