Position Summary
The Program Coordinator serves as a vital key member of the Health Promotion & Wellness Services (HPWS) team at University Health Services (UHS). The Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall operational and organizational needs of the Duck Nest wellness center through supporting its facility programs services and engaging stakeholders.
The Program Coordinator provides supervision and administrative support for health promotion efforts occurring in the newly renovated Duck Nest wellness center. The Duck Nest wellness center operates as a safe welcoming and inclusive environment focused on providing students resources and programming. This is accomplished in collaboration with students faculty staff and community partners. This position is responsible for working closely with student employees interns and other stakeholders requiring strong skills in organization leadership coalition building collaboration mentorship and shared governance. The Duck Nest wellness center is organized within University Health Services though operations and facilities including emergency preparedness are under the Department of Physical Education & Recreation requiring the Program Coordinator to take direction from multiple sources.
The Program Coordinator will be supporting communication and programming efforts of the Duck Nest. This position will support education and training of student peer educators interns and other stakeholders including organizing staffing needs securing supplies scheduling programs and supporting all parties to accomplish the goals of the wellness center.
The Program Coordinator will serve as a nimble and flexible colleague often responding to change and making sound decisions aligned with policies and student wellbeing. The Program Coordinator will utilize best-practice approaches to create provide and coordinate including an interdisciplinary and multicultural approach to health equity. This position reports to the Director of Health Promotion & Wellness Services.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System of Award Management (SAM). In addition employee must be in compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis screening measles and mumps (MMR) seasonal flu hepatitis B and other immunization requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience
One year of professional experience in public health health education public health policy health promotion or related field
Professional Competencies
Communication skills that contribute to successful collaborations with students faculty staff alumni and community members
Ability to coordinate health-related programs and/or activities
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment
Operational and space management skills
Data and documentation skills
Time and priority management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in supervising coaching or coordinating student employees
Experience in planning and coordinating health-related programs
Two years of professional experience in student services student affairs educational healthcare a Dean of Students office or a related area on a college campus
Direct experience supporting diverse student populations applying equity-minded inclusive practices in programming and space management
Experience managing programmatic budgets and using data to guide programming decisions and budget allocations
Bachelors degree in public health health education public health policy health promotion liberal arts/humanities or related field
