Job Summary
Our client a Microfinance Institution (MFI) is currently looking for a Chief Recovery Officer based at the Head Office. The role is responsible for leading the institutions recovery operations and portfolio resolution strategy to minimize losses and maximize cash recovery. The successful candidate will ensure that recovery strategies and loss management practices are aligned with business objectives risk appetite and regulatory addition the position will provide leadership to drive sustainable recovery performance and ensure effective management of delinquent and non-performing assets.
Main Responsibilities:
- Define and lead recovery and portfolio resolution strategy aligned with business goals and risk appetite.
- Oversee recovery performance portfolio trends loss exposure and recovery effectiveness.
- Establish and oversee recovery governance policies processes and control frameworks.
- Ensure ethical consistent and compliant recovery practices.
- Lead loss mitigation decisions with a balanced approach across recovery restructuring legal action and portfolio closure.
- Provide strategic direction to Recovery Management with clear accountability and performance discipline.
- Promote a culture of accountability risk awareness and data-driven decision making.
- Ensure effective coordination with risk legal finance and business functions.
- Advise CEO and Senior Management on recovery strategy risks and performance trends.
- Present recovery performance and key initiatives to Executive Management and committees.
Main Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Microfinance/Banking Sector with at least 5 years in a managerial position.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to turn data into clear actions and make decisions in difficult situations.
- Good communication and presentation skills with strong command of English; able to interact clearly with management.
- Capable of leading teams negotiating with clients and applying practical solutions in the field.
- Works with integrity and accountability understands field realities and thrives in a fast-changing environment.
