Details of the role
The Higher Degree Research (HDR) Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of HDR candidate administration and for providing the highest quality service and support to current and prospective HDR candidates Postgraduate Coordinators and supervisors.
The role has an emphasis on enhancing HDR candidate experience and is a lead contributor to a culture of continuous improvement in HDR coordination. A strong emphasis is also placed on the role to achieve effective working relationships and working as part of a team with other HDR Coordinators in the Faculty.
This role plays a central part in supporting the research training lifecycle ensuring HDR candidates and supervisors receive seamless high-quality guidance from admission through to graduation. Working closely with academic leaders and professional colleagues you will coordinate complex candidature processes provide trusted advice on research administration matters and contribute to initiatives that enhance the overall HDR experience. The position suits someone who enjoys managing multiple priorities navigating sensitive or complex issues with professionalism and building strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. You will also contribute to faculty-wide projects communications and events.
The role reports to the Senior HDR Coordinator supporting the Associate Dean (Research Training) and Postgraduate Coordinators of allocated Schools. The role has no direct reports.
Some key skills required:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience.
- Coordinate all aspects of postgraduate research administration for researchers from assigned Schools and/or Centres delivering an efficient support service across enrolment scholarships progression and graduation processes.
- Provide advice guidance and administrative support to School Managers Heads of School and Postgraduate Coordinators on a range of complex candidature issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team and to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- Highly advanced interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.
- Coordinate the research progress review process ensuring participation of appropriate panel members and overseeing completion of associated tasks.
- Coordinate development reviews updates and maintenance of communications and marketing materials related to the HDR program including website and intranet content.
