Position Title: 2026Summer School Teacher- English Language Development

*INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY*

Length of Work Yr: June 1 2026 - June 17 2026 Monday- Thursday only 5 hours/day

Salary Range: $30/hour extra duty pay for prep; $40/hour extra duty pay for instructional hours

Location: MadisonCamelview

Department: Curriculum and Instruction

Reports To: Teacher on Assignment - English Language Development

Mission and Vision of the EL Summer School Teacher: The purpose of the EL Summer school teacher is to deliver a language rich instructional program favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students who are emerging bilingual students to motivate students to develop language and social skills needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education;.

Education and Experience:

  • Holds a current Arizona Teaching Certificate
  • Has at least one year of teaching experience using the English Language Proficiency Standards
  • Targeted EL teacher experience is preferred
  • Experienced in delivering a Structured Literacy Approach
  • Skilled in accurately differentiating instruction to a variety of EL students at various proficiency levels.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Implement Scholastic LitCamp lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  2. Task analyzes and translates lessons into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  3. Uses effective Classroom Management techniques.
  4. Evaluates pupils academic and social growth keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
  5. Teaches curriculum aligned to state standards.
  6. Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
  7. Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
  8. Maintains a safe environment for students conducive to learning.
  9. Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified by District policy.
  10. Anticipates and effectively addresses unforeseen crises associated with working with large groups of children.
  11. Must commit to all 11 days
  12. Maintains regular attendance
  13. Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Maintains valid certifications fingerprint card and Appropriately Certified status.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises classroom employees students and volunteers.
