Position Overview
The Accessioning Technician II will be responsible for receiving and opening packages of patient specimens accessioning samples into the clinical database entering all patient and institutional data and management of associated documents and records. Another important part of the accessioning process is to identify incomplete or missing information and/or unacceptable specimens received; when this happens the Accessioning Technician is expected to escalate the case to the team who are responsible for follow-up with such a addition to these responsibilities the Accessioning Technician II will be responsible for the training of new technicians handling of more complex cases and contributing to continuous process improvement.
Shift: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm
Essential Duties
Include but are not limited to the following:
- Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) specific to assigned department/laboratory which may include but is not limited to:
- Receive and open packages of patient specimens for accessioning;
- Accession samples into clinical database including prenatal accessioning;
- Enter all relevant patient/institutional data in database(s) and ensure accuracy;
- Scan and/or manage all physical and electronic documents for a case.
- Communicate with Genetic Testing Coordinators for necessary cases.
- Communicate with Specimen Processing Technicians to ensure proper hand-off of specimens from accessioning to processing.
- Train incoming Accessioning Technicians and assist others with questions.
- Respond to Team Support tickets assigned to Accessioning.
- Assist with additional specimen handling such as specimen disposal.

- Ability to work designated schedule.
- Ability to work seated for approximately 10% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- 1 years of experience in accessioning specimen receipt or processing division of a laboratory or field as outlined in the essential duties.
- Basic scientific aptitude that will allow rapid learning of new technologies and clinical data.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and techniques.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and PC workstation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical school or college coursework.
Salary Range:
$35000.00 - $57000.00The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Marshfield on a full-time addition this position is bonus eligible.
