Nursing Programs at Santa Fe College (SF) provides high quality nursing education that is student-oriented accessible and based on the healthcare needs of our community. Our Nursing Programs offer 3-degree programs which includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and the Licensed Practical Nursing to Associate in Science in Nursing Bridge program. Additionally Nursing Programs offers postsecondary adult vocational courses for Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Practical Nursing which prepares students for better career opportunities.

Under general supervision the Assistant Professor will develop prepare and teach a variety of coursework in the Nursing Programs specifically Maternal Infant. This position will be housed primarily at the Northwest Campus but may be assigned to one of the Colleges six (6) locations throughout Alachua and Bradford counties. Candidates must have the flexibility to teach courses during the day evening or online as well as taught using other distance learning formats. This position has a 9-month contract based on teaching 15 credit hours in the Fall and 15 credit hours in the Spring. Summer instructional opportunities may be available for additional compensation based on departmental need.

The starting salary is $50303 annually. Any salary amount above this is commensurate upon an individuals qualifications. Additionally Nursing faculty may receive a stipend of $9200 as market adjustment and be paid semi-monthly in equal increments during the contract period. As a full-time (FT) employee the incumbent will incur many college paid benefits including health and life insurance retirement leave time and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

Job Description

Responsibilities and Duties Include:

  • Plans organizes and delivers instruction to didactic laboratory and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting.

  • Supports and promotes the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction curriculum enhancement and timely service.

  • Collaborates with the Chair faculty and peers to evaluate revise and develop curriculum that cultivates the mastery of course content.

  • Demonstrates technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction.

  • Works collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team.

  • Assists with the implementation of college policies objectives and functions in accordance with the SF philosophy mission strategic initiatives and procedures.

  • Participates in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed.

  • Provides students with frequent timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.

  • Appropriately documents student progress and maintains records including attendance grading and student learning outcomes.

  • Develops methods that fairly and accurately assess students progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.

  • Maintains appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.

  • Provides service to the college through participation in events committees and other college activities.

  • Complies with all published College Rules procedures guidelines and laws/regulations governing public employees including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction FERPA and confidentiality.

  • Strictly honors the privacy security and confidentiality of records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state federal and college regulations policies and procedures.

  • Provides service excellence through courteous informed accessible and professional engagement.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Chair Nursing Programs

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:RN to BSN programs FT faculty must hold a minimum of a masters degree in nursing and a doctoral degree. ASN and ASN Bridge faculty must hold a minimum of an associates degree in nursing. All FT program faculty must hold current RN license for the State of Florida Board of Nursing and must have related clinical and/or educational experience related to area of teaching. The majority of faculty in the ASN ASN Bridge and PN programs must hold a minimum of a masters degree in nursing.

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check and drug screening will be conducted. The Florida Board of Nursing and program accreditors require that over 50% of faculty must be prepared at the graduate level with a degree in Nursing and/or a related field and applicants will be reviewed based on this criterion.
Preferred: Prior teaching and/or clinical experience in medical/surgical pediatrics maternal infant and/or health nursing.
