Job Summary
An experienced and ambitious English specialist is required to join an excellent secondary school in Dudley from September 2026. This is a full-time permanent opportunity for a practitioner ready to take on a middle leadership role within a high-achieving and collaborative English department.
English is a cornerstone of the schools academic success with a focus on delivering high-quality engaging lessons that support student achievement across all key stages.
The Role
Supporting the Head of Department in leading the English faculty to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
Teaching English across KS3 and KS4 with the potential for A-Level delivery depending on experience.
Leading on specific curriculum areas or key stages to drive student progress and attainment.
Mentoring and supporting members of the department including ECTs and trainee teachers.
Developing and implementing innovative teaching resources and digital strategies to enhance student engagement.
Monitoring student data and coordinating targeted interventions to ensure every pupil reaches their potential.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
A strong degree in English Literature English Language or a related discipline.
Proven success teaching English at KS3 and KS4 with a track record of excellent exam results.
Previous experience in a leadership role or a clear readiness to move into middle management.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to inspire both students and colleagues.
A professional organized approach and a commitment to continuous professional development.
