Teacher of the Visually Impaired

Hours: 8:30 AM 3:10 PM
Meal Break: 30 Minutes
Pay Rate: $75 $80 per hour
Class/Assignment: TVI (Teacher for the Visually Impaired)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support students with visual impairments at Big Springs School in Montague California. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction collaborate with educational teams and help students achieve academic and functional independence in the school environment.

• Provide direct instructional services to students with visual impairments.
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student needs.
• Conduct assessments and evaluate students visual and educational needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers special education staff therapists and families.
• Adapt classroom materials into accessible formats such as Braille large print and assistive technology.
• Support students in developing independent living orientation mobility and organizational skills.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and reports.
• Participate in IEP meetings staff meetings and parent conferences as required.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations.

• Valid California Teaching Credential with authorization in Visual Impairments (TVI certification preferred).
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education Visual Impairment Education or related field.
• Previous experience working with visually impaired or blind students in a school setting preferred.
• Knowledge of Braille assistive technology and adaptive educational strategies.
• Strong communication collaboration and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students families and multidisciplinary teams
