POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SQL Developer to design develop and optimise database solutions that support business applications and data-driven decision-making. This role requires strong expertise in SQL development database design and performance tuning as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable secure and high-performing data solutions.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design develop and maintain database schemas tables views stored procedures and functions aligned to business and application requirements.
  • Collaborate with software developers and solution architects to integrate database components into overall system design.
  • Write optimise and maintain complex SQL queries for data retrieval manipulation and analysis.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks including query inefficiencies and indexing issues to improve scalability and response times.
  • Perform database maintenance tasks such as backups restores and data migrations to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Monitor database performance storage and resource utilisation implementing proactive improvements to minimise downtime.
  • Develop and manage ETL processes data pipelines and migration scripts to support seamless data integration across systems.
  • Validate cleanse and ensure consistency of data during ETL and migration processes.
  • Implement and maintain database security measures including access controls and encryption ensuring compliance with data protection standards.
  • Conduct regular performance and security audits to identify risks and recommend improvements.
  • Document database designs data models and technical specifications to support maintenance and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams on database best practices and performance optimisation.

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience as an SQL Developer or Database Developer.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL including experience with T-SQL and/or PL/SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server Oracle or MySQL.
  • Solid understanding of database design relational database principles data modelling and performance tuning.
  • Experience with query optimisation indexing strategies and execution plan analysis.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes data integration and data migration techniques.
  • Understanding of database security access control and data protection best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

While performing the duties of this job the employee will be largely sedentary and will be required to sit/stand for long periods while using a computer and telephone headset. The employee may occasionally be required to move about the office to accomplish tasks; reach in any direction; raise or lower objects move objects from place to place hold onto objects and move or exert force up to forty (40) pounds.
