Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Field Technician to join our team and assist in the installation and maintenance of complex communications systems at FAA facilities. The technician will perform a variety of duties in the electronic and/or electromechanical areas. Assists in the removal construction test and check-out of the fielded system. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with communications equipment excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Works from and understands schematics operating or repair manuals engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
Essential Functions:
- Remove install configure and test communications equipment and supporting infrastructure at various FAA facilities.
- Perform system troubleshooting and repair activities to ensure optimal operation of operational system.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret and implement installation drawings and specifications.
- Support site surveys to assess installation requirements and plan logistics.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety guidelines protocols and regulatory standards.
- Document all installation repair and maintenance activities accurately and thoroughly.
- Travel extensively to various FAA facilities as required by project assignments for 3-to-5 month durations as required.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Ability to obtain a FAA Public Trust clearance or a U.S. Government Security Clearance
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in installation maintenance and troubleshooting of critical electronics systems.
- Proficiency with a variety of tools and equipment involved in communications systems installation.
- Problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working on the Voice Switching and Control System.
- Experience working on projects for the FAA or other federal agencies.
- Certification in relevant telecommunications fields (e.g. CompTIA Network ETA International).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
