Job Summary

Widener University is currently seeking a one-year long 10-month non-tenure track faculty member in the Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology. This role reports to the Director of the Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology. The person filling this role will be a doctoral level psychologist who is or plans to become licensed. As a visiting faculty member in our Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program the person filling this role will teach advise and participate in department/program service.

The Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology is a generalist clinical program and our faculty represents a diverse array of theoretical orientations. We will consider applications from candidates representing any theoretical orientations. We welcome applications from candidates who would also bring specific expertise in the broad array of areas typical to clinical programs including psychological assessment and intervention. All candidates should be prepared to demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of diversity equity inclusion and belonging as well as how this understanding is woven into their work.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

Essential Duties:

Teaching

  • Teach 2 3-credit courses per semester (fall and spring) in doctoral level clinical psychology program including developing syllabi learning objectives assignments and rubrics examinations other course materials and managing Canvas course sites to support courses.
  • Demonstrate competency in knowledge and skills in teaching as evidenced by supervisor peer and student evaluations.
  • Serve as a committee member on 3-5 dissertation committees.
  • Serve as faculty examiner on 8 Final Clinical Oral Exams.
  • Maintain regular office hours; guide or support students who reach out for assistance; identify students who are struggling and need extra attention or support to be successful (use email phone or other means of communication).

Service

  • Attend University College and Program faculty meetings.
  • Participate in student recruitment and admission activities.
  • Serve as academic advisor and/or mentor for 12-15 students in doctoral program; provide advising as appropriate to student organizations.
  • Engage in service to the profession via membership in professional organizations participation in professional conferences and professional/community-based service activities.

Scholarship/Practice

  • Engage in scholarly work related to area(s) of interest.
  • Maintain clinical training and relevant research and scholarship.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. All But Dissertation (ABD) candidates may be considered if the doctoral degree is completed by August 2026.
  • PA license as a Psychologist. Supervision toward licensure can be provided to qualified applicants who have completed all other Pennsylvania requirements for licensure as a Psychologist.
  • Commitment to integration of diversity equity inclusion and belonging into clinical work research and/or teaching.

Preferred:

  • Teaching experience in Psychology in higher education.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision.
