Position Summary:
Administer medications provide first aid services create and maintain care plans and maintain health records for students. Communicates with staff students and parents regarding medical needs. Monitors and reports communicable diseases. Manages the health office ensuring clean confidential and best practice standards of care.
Position Requirements:
High school diploma and MN Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Current CPR and AED certification required.
Language Skills: Highly developed oral and written skills for effective communication with students parents and school personnel.
Physical Demands: This work requires occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work frequently speaking or hearing using hands to finger handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires standing walking sitting stooping kneeling crouching or crawling tasting or smelling pushing or pulling lifting and repetitive motions; work requires close vision distance vision ability to adjust focus depth perception and color perception; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work occasionally required exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location. (e.g. business office light traffic).
Other Skills & Abilities: Accuracy efficiency flexibility and good interpersonal communication skills. Maintain calm and responsive approaches in day-to-day emergency situations; provide a variety of strategies in working with students staff and parents; maintain flexibility in day-to-day dealings with stakeholders. General knowledge and skills in nursing assessment health education principles and practices medication administration and specialized healthcare procedures; ability to maintain accurate records and follow school policies for data security and management; ability to communicate positively and maintain effective working relationships with students staff administrators and the general public. Consistent and reliable attendance.
Hours/Schedule:All student contact days 9:30 am - 1 pm
Pay Rate:
B-3-1 // $22.62 - $30.67 *depending on experience and pending contract negotiations.
