The Program
The Universal Aftercare service is a non-clinical support service focused on providing practical psychosocial support to people experiencing a suicidal crisis or who have attempted suicide.

Aftercare hopes to prevent deaths by suicide by providing non-clinical care and practical supports that help keep people safe and support their recovery.

About your new role
The role of the Support Coordinator is to participate in intake and assessment processes and support those who have been referred to Wellways. You will provide non-clinical care and individualised practical support to consumers and their families who are referred to the service for the first three months following a suicide attempt.

As one of our valued Support Coordinators you will be assisting Aftercare participants to develop their safety and support plans you will also provide support in the first three months following a suicide attempt to help an individual to stay safe and connect with essential services

Using your knowledge and connection to engage with and deliver safe and effective service to vulnerable groups who are known to be at high risk of suicide while also increasing social connectedness.

What do you need

  • Relevant qualifications or commensurate experience in working in the mental health or community services sector generally a minimum of Certificate IV qualification
  • Experience in working with people bereaved through suicide or experience in dealing with severe personal trauma
  • An understanding of recovery principles and/or strengths-based principles
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Satisfactory Police Records Check
  • Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Module Quality Safety and You free online course
  • Right to Work within Australia
