Position Summary

The Machine Shop at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre supports the Radiation Medicine Program by designing fabricating repairing and modifying custom components and devices used in patient care research and quality assurance. The shop collaborates with internal teams and external partners on a wide range of projects involving materials such as metals plastics composites and wood. This role offers hands on experience in a specialized medical environment while working toward certification as a General Machinist.

Duties

Assist in the design and fabrication of custom components and devices
Interpret technical drawings and produce precision parts
Collaborate with clinicians researchers and technical staff
Support CAD design and technical drawing development
Repair modify and maintain equipment and systems
Assist with maintenance of shop equipment including hydraulic systems
Follow all safety protocols in a hospital environment

Apprenticeship Program

Enrolment in an Ontario General Machinist apprenticeship
Development of machining CNC and fabrication skills
Progression toward journeyperson certification


Qualifications :

  • Completion of or enrollment in a related technical program preferred
  • Basic knowledge of machining materials and fabrication processes
  • Understanding of trigonometry geometry and mechanical principles
