JOB DESCRIPTION: MTSS/504 Instructional Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY:
- The MTSS/504 Instructional Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation and management of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Section 504 processes at Laramie High School. This position works collaboratively with teachers administrators counselors intervention staff students and families to ensure students receive appropriate academic behavioral and social-emotional supports. The specialist assists in identifying student needs coordinating interventions monitoring progress facilitating Section 504 plans and promoting equitable access to educational opportunities. This role is focused on improving student outcomes through data-informed problem solving instructional support and compliance with federal and district requirements.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The MTSS/504 Instructional Specialist:
- Supports the implementation of the school-wide MTSS framework including academic behavioral and attendance interventions. *
- Facilitates the identification of students requiring Tier II and Tier III interventions through data review and problem-solving processes. *
- Coordinates intervention planning with teachers counselors administrators and support staff to ensure appropriate student supports are in place. *
- Monitors student progress and assists staff in using progress monitoring tools and intervention data to inform instructional decisions. *
- Assists with the development implementation and monitoring of Section 504 accommodation plans for eligible students. *
- Schedules and facilitates Section 504 meetings and ensures proper documentation and compliance with federal law and district procedures. *
- Collaborates with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction accommodations and intervention strategies for students experiencing academic or behavioral challenges. *
- Provides instructional coaching and support to staff regarding intervention strategies student supports and MTSS best practices. *
- Partners with families to communicate student progress explain intervention processes and support student success. *
- Works closely with counselors administrators special education staff and student services teams to ensure coordinated support systems for students. *
- Participates in multidisciplinary meetings including MTSS teams Section 504 meetings problem-solving teams and transition planning meetings. *
- Assists in the analysis of school-wide student data to identify trends barriers and opportunities for improvement. *
- Ensures all services comply with Section 504 requirements district policies and applicable state and federal education laws *.
- Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations coursework workshops and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees taskforces in-depth studies or councils). *
- Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District. *
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model. *

- Ability to use effective communication skills; ability to use time effectively; strong organizational skills; ability to collaborate and maintain positive working relationships with staff students families and supervisors; ability to prepare and maintain accurate records; ability to analyze student data and apply data-driven decision making; knowledge of MTSS frameworks and intervention systems; knowledge of Section 504 requirements and educational accommodations; knowledge of instructional strategies and intervention techniques; knowledge of student behavior supports and conflict resolution; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities; and ability to operate standard office equipment and software applications.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors Degree; secondary teaching certification from the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board.
Work Experience: Experience with MTSS systems student interventions Section 504 processes or student support services at the secondary level.
