Construction Site Supervisor (Inspector)

• Assure that the contractual construction work is in general compliance with all requirements of the contract documents and the BNSs practices and procedures including the New Public Housing Design Guidelines document.
• Verify Contractors monthly payment requests are on par with actual completed work and materials on site.
• Monitors project deliverables and provides direction to staff so that deliverables meet defined BNS quality standards. Documents and reviews the site progress records schedule and record drawings to ensure they are maintained in accordance with the contract documents. Observes the work of various trades and identifies any concerns to the General Contractor and/or BNS Project Manager.
• Reports any non-conformance to the attention of the contractor consultant(s) and internal BNS Project Manager.
• Provides weekly reports on the site construction activities and photographic representation on the work completed.
• Assist with co-ordinate inspections by the consultants Fire Marshal and other officials having jurisdiction Dept. of Labor Dept. of Environment utilities the Owner and independent testing companies. Witness on-site testing as required.
• Communicates regularly with sponsors and stakeholders to maintain positive working relationships.

• Build Nova Scotia Strategic Infrastructure Division is responsible to deliver new Public Housing projects. The Construction Site Inspector is often required to engage in work which is unique and for which there is no benchmark. Must have the ability to work independently and be adaptable to work situations.
• This job requires a Red Seal trade Architectural Technologist Engineering CET or equivalent technical certification or equivalent experience.

Preference will be given to proponents with:

• 5 or more years experience on projects valued at $20M or more
• Should have experience in providing either inspection supervision construction administration or design services for large building construction projects
• Experience on healthcare facilities schools long term care facilities or other public building projects
• Familiarity with the Departments policies concerning construction projects

Pay Grade: NSL-12

Salary Range: $2850.33 - $3919.20 Bi-Weekly if working FTE hours

Hourly Range: $40.71 - $55.98 if working casual part-time hours

Salary Placement: The placement of a new hire into the salary range is based on an objective salary rating process. This process will assess the knowledge skills and overall qualifications of a candidate along with internal equity to determine appropriate compensation placement. Each pay grade has established steps and new hires cannot exceed certain maximums which are outlined in the Compensation Framework. The final compensation for this position will be determined based on these factors.
