Clinical Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including history physical exams and diagnostic testing interpretation.
- Collaborate with the orthopedic team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Educate patients on their condition treatment plans and postoperative care.
- Assist with in-office procedures including joint injections casting and splinting.
- Manage follow-up appointments monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
Surgical Assistance:
- Assist in the operating room under the supervision of orthopedic surgeons.
- Prepare patients for surgery and ensure all surgical equipment is ready and sterile.
- Perform preoperative and postoperative care including wound care dressing changes and monitoring for complications.
- Provide first-assist support during various orthopedic surgeries ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
Community:
- May attend community sporting events talks or events
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Attending Physician or Practice Administrator.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current PA license in Massachusetts.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Prior experience in orthopedics or surgical assistance is highly desirable.
- BLS and ACLS certifications are preferred.
Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient education and team collaboration.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment balancing office duties with surgical assistance.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software.
