Job Title: Payroll Assistant / Timekeeper
Location: New York NY 10004
Schedule: MondayFriday Day Shift (08:00 AM 04:00 PM)
Duration: 9 Weeks 40 Hours/Week
Job Summary
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant / Timekeeper to ensure accurate timekeeping and payroll processing for a large workforce. This role supports timely payroll operations compliance with policies and labor regulations and maintains high data accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process employee timesheets ensuring accuracy and supervisor approvals
- Monitor time entries missed punches overtime shift differentials and exceptions
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and assist with corrections and adjustments
- Support payroll processing including taxes garnishments and year-end activities
- Track employee leave (sick vacation FMLA comp time) and update systems accordingly
- Coordinate with HR and departments on leave and attendance issues
- Maintain accurate payroll records and audit-ready documentation
- Ensure compliance with internal policies labor agreements and regulations
Required Skills & Experience
- 12 years of payroll or timekeeping experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes and timekeeping systems
- Experience handling discrepancies and payroll audits
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail confidentiality and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Oracle or PeopleSoft payroll systems
- Familiarity with union/public sector payroll practices
- Exposure to large workforce payroll environments
- Knowledge of garnishments tax processing and year-end reporting
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associates or Bachelors degree in HR Business Accounting or related field preferred
