Whats the job
This role will promote and maintain a culture of academic honesty and integrity among students. The primary responsibility of an Academic Integrity Officer is to oversee and enforce academic integrity policies and procedures within the institution. Whilst this role will predominantly deal with prevention detection and investigation of academic integrity breaches the role is equivalent to an academic level B and will be expected to undertake teaching functions with the university faculties depending on the volume of academic integrity case management.


Principle accountabilities (but not limited to):

Academic Integrity prevention detection and investigation

  • Conducting investigations into reported cases of academic misconduct. This includes gathering evidence interviewing relevant parties and following established procedures to ensure a fair and thorough investigation.

  • Recommending appropriate disciplinary actions or sanctions based on the investigations findings.

  • Maintaining accurate records of academic integrity cases investigations and outcomes.


Teaching

  • Manage small or large blended/hybrid and or/online classes as well as monitor and ensure participation

  • Prepare and review teaching materials and make any recommendations necessary as per university policy and procedures

  • Make proper use of all current subject outlines teaching material (shared lesson plans slides videos etc.) and student learning materials (texts workbooks handouts study guides interactive PDFs portal content journal articles etc.)

Scholarship Currency (Academic discipline expertise) and Professional Development

  • Maintain and supply evidence of appropriate professional development undertakings to update industry expertise and/or experience in the discipline to comply with the regulatory standards required

  • Actively contribute to the institutions scholarship profile

  • Participate in all mandatory company training programs or seminars regarding teaching and learning principles including any licensing requirements online delivery seminars and company induction

Student Care

  • Collaborate with introduce and embed Torrens Global Education (TGE) learning support teams to the student learning environments

  • Use learning management system tools and data to proactively monitor student engagement and improve the student experience and ultimately their learning outcomes

  • Identify students who are at risk of failing a subject whether for personal or academic reasons and make the appropriate referrals to the Learning Hub Learning Services success coaches or counsellor

Academic Administration

  • Attend operational and academic meetings as required

  • Collaborate with other academic staff across Torrens Global Education (TGE) to influence group approaches to pedagogy and identify best practice in teaching and learning

  • Lead or participate in subject coordination responsibilities and in some instances direct casual or sessional employees

Curriculum Development and Review

  • Leverage scholarship research and/or external engagement activity to continuously improve curriculum

  • Develop write and submit relevant subject materials in line with any briefs supplied in the appropriate templates provided

  • Ensure subject material developed meets regulatory requirements and can be re-utilised for different in-takes as well as for VET and/or HE delivery

Research Scholarship and Community Engagement

  • Contribute to the enhancement of the institution through ethical research scholarship and/or creative endeavours as appropriate ensuring Research output is aligned with the discipline and the universitys strategic plan. Time commitment must be agreed with line manager

  • Support activities that boost academic engagement and benefit students such as recruitment and retention of students

  • Represent the institution through leadership or volunteer roles in the community as appropriate

This is a permanent full-time position based on our Surry Hills Campus in Sydney.

  • Certified copies of all your Academic qualifications

Who you are:

  • A Masters degree or higher is typically required for this position along with relevant work experience.

  • Significant knowledge of specific subject areas combined with a broad disciplinary background enabling contributions to teaching programs.

  • Sound understanding of literature on student success support and wellbeing for diverse student cohorts.

  • Understanding of pedagogical approaches and adult learning principles relevant to the student cohort being taught. Where an individual is not qualified to at least one Qualification Standard level higher equivalency must be determined and approved by the Program Director.

  • Working with children check

  • Police check may be required

  • Experience in education / training and assessment within the university sector is preferable.

  • Some experience in a student support role

  • An understanding of TEQSA compliance as they relate to student support.

  • Strong Communication and problem-solving and reporting skills
