About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for aSenior Buildings Officerto join our expanding Assets and Facilities within the Assets & Investment Directorate youwill act as the Councils specialist advisor responsiblepersonand budget holder for operational facilities management.

Youwillwillassistthe Facilities Manager to ensure the Council is adhering to health and safety compliance across all compliance and best practice areas of:

  • Asbestos
  • Gas
  • Electric
  • Fire Safety
  • Water Hygiene
  • CDM
  • LOLER

Overseeing and managing the Buildings Officers you will help to ensure with technical knowledge and experience that Brentwood Borough Council and Rochford District Council manages its corporate owned properties in accordance with legislative requirements and best practice to provide the highest level of assurance on compliance to provide safe properties for tenants and visitors alike.

Inadditionyou willassistthe Facilities Manager in ensuring a robust response is delivered in addressing repairs and maintenance issues and proactive steps are taken to ensure mitigate the risk of these issues arising in the future.

About the candidate:

You will be askilled and technically proficient professional with anunderstanding of statutory andnonstatutorycompliance across key health and safety areas including asbestos gas electrical safety fire safety water hygiene CDM and analytical abilities sound judgement and the confidence to interpret survey results oversee remedial actions and ensure all corporate properties meet legislative requirements and best practice standards.

Youwill be meticulous inmaintainingaccuraterecords managing certification updating compliancedatabasesand ensuring that all works are completed safely efficiently and within required timescales.

Equally important isyourability to lead and support theBuildings Officers reporting to you providingday-to-dayoversight technical guidance and a proactive approach to repairsmaintenanceand planned be an effective communicator who can build strong relationships with contractors internalstakeholdersand external bodies ensuring transparencyaccountabilityandhigh levelsof assurance.

With a collaborative mindset and the ability to manage riskbudgetsand competing prioritiesyouwill help the Council deliver safe compliant andwellmaintainedproperties for tenants staff and visitors while contributing tolongtermservice improvement and resilience.
