headspace Kempsey is operated by Samaritans Foundation and part of a national initiative to deliver improvements in the mental health social wellbeing and economic participation of young people aged 12-25.
About the opportunity
Working within a multidisciplinary team at our Kempsey Centre youwill focus on community capacity building youth participation community awareness and education and training activities designed to raise awareness and understanding of youth mental health. Applicants will need to be able to develop and/or link with a range of creative youth friendly programs and strategies that attract and engage young people.

Essential Criteria
Tertiary qualifications inan appropriate disciplineor extensive demonstrated experience in health promotion public health social sciences communication/marketingeducationor youth work.
Awareness of the health issues affecting children and young people and in particular children and young people experiencing mental health problems
Sound knowledge of health promotion and social marketing principles
Proven ability to utilise a strengths-based approach to communicate and develop respectful and professional relationships with young people 12 25 years
Experience in providing training and group activities thatfacilitateopportunities for young people to developappropriate skills
Demonstrated willingness and ability to work within a team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent computer skills (MS Word PowerPoint internet social media platformsemailand publishing software)
Able to work flexible hours and days to accommodate the needs of the community
The successful applicant willpossessor willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check NDIS Worker Screening CheckFirstaid & CPR certificate Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate and undertake a pre-employment functional medical.
Desirables
Experience in writing and editing written and web based social media publications
Grant writing experience
Accreditation running evidence-based group programs or mental health training
Attendance at a suicide risk assessment training such as ASISTBlackdogAdv Training in Suicide Prevention etc.
