Job Summary

The Opportunity

Birmingham is the financial engine of the West Midlands home to one of the largest professional and financial services hubs outside of London. We are seeking an intellectually rigorous and dynamic Economics Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated Outstanding secondary academy. In this role you will guide students through the complexities of global markets fiscal policy and behavioural economics utilizing the citys status as a center for international trade and banking to bring the curriculum to life.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-challenge Economics lessons across Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level) ensuring students can articulate complex theories with precision.

  2. Micro-Economic Mastery: Teaching the mechanics of the price engine including supply and demand elasticity and the impact of government intervention in failing markets.

  3. Macro-Economic Insight: Guiding students through national and global economic indicators including GDP growth unemployment and the intricacies of monetary and fiscal policy.

  4. Data Interpretation: Training students to analyse and evaluate complex datasets preparing them for the rigorous quantitative requirements of the A-Level and undergraduate study.

  5. Global Contextualization: Integrating contemporary case studiessuch as the impact of trade agreements emerging market shifts and the economics of climate changeinto the daily curriculum.


The Successful Candidate We are looking for a subject authority who can translate abstract economic laws into fascinating real-world insights. Requirements include:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in Economics or a related discipline (e.g. PPE Finance).

  • Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering exceptional learning outcomes and a deep understanding of the AQA or Edexcel Economics specifications.

  • Analytical Rigor: The ability to support students in mastering the mathematical and evaluative components of the exam particularly high-mark essay construction.

  • Inspirational Presence: A teacher who can foster a classroom culture of critical inquiry encouraging students to challenge assumptions and think like professional economists.
