History Teaching Role in a Modern Academy
An academy school in Norwich is seeking to appoint a History Teacher to join its Humanities department from September. This is a full-time role within a school that is focused on developing a strong and engaging curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
History is a valued subject within the school supporting students in developing analytical thinking source evaluation and written communication skills.
About the Role
You will teach History across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 delivering lessons that cover a range of British and international topics. Students will develop their understanding of historical events causes and consequences alongside skills in source analysis and extended writing.
You will prepare students for GCSE History examinations supporting them in developing structured responses and exam technique.
Depending on experience there may be opportunities to contribute to Key Stage 5 teaching.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency in curriculum delivery and assessment.
Key Responsibilities
Teach History across KS3 and KS4
Deliver lessons covering a range of historical topics
Prepare students for GCSE History examinations
Assess student work and provide structured feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to departmental planning and shared resources
Promote critical thinking and analytical skills
Support enrichment activities where appropriate

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching History at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 effectively
Strong classroom management skills
Good organisational and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching GCSE History
Experience teaching A-Level History
Ability to contribute to enrichment or extracurricular activities
